Alexandra Pirici & Manuel Pelmuş Public Collection of Modern Art
The project Public Collection of Modern Art by Alexandra Pirici & Manuel Pelmuş makes a guest appearance for one week in conjunction with the Unruly Relations exhibition. Public Collection of Modern Art focuses on the role of the museum as a place of archiving, historicizing, collecting and therefore social reflection. A cornerstone of the modern museum concept is the idea of a physical collection, an aspect that the work of Pirici and Pelmuş put to the test. Public Collection of Modern Art is a (re)performance and thus an updating of both the iconic and forgotten works and (textual) key moments from the history of modern to contemporary. They are presented using only the literally interdependent bodies of the actors. Public Collection of Modern Art is an action performed continuously for five days during museum opening hours, forming for this time an ‘immaterial collection’, a repeated body of works with neither beginning nor end, which viewers can enter and leave at any time.
Public Collection of Modert Art is performed by Beniamin Boar, Rolando Matsangos and Maria Mora
