This year the Glarner Kunstverein celebrates its 150th anniversary. The collection exhibitionEin Haus ohne Licht ist nur ein Halbes Haus(A House Without Light Is Only Half a House) takes a non-chronological, concentrated cross section through the collections of the Glarner Kunstverein (Glarus art association). The collecting activity as a constant of the Kunstverein’s work to this day spans an arc from the past to the present. The exhibition emphasizes works that focus on social relationships and contexts, which are equally decisive for the commitment of the Kunstverein. Rounding out these (hi)stories from the Glarner Kunstverein in the foyer are selected holdings from our archive.
At the same time, a publication offering a similar cross section through the collections is being released to mark the 150th anniversary of the Glarner Kunstverein. The volumeIn der Sammlung(In the Collection) brings together contributions created in varying contexts. Represented is a current perspective documenting public programs, art educational and research work associated with the collections over the past twelve months.
