The group exhibition with artist members, held at the end of each year, has a long tradition in Swiss art associations. Over time, the exhibition formats of the so-called “Christmas exhibitions” have evolved, but the focus remains on regional art. At Kunsthaus Glarus, Kunstschaffen Glarus has taken place since 1977, alternating since 2021 with Heimspiel, a juried and thematic exhibition featuring artists from Eastern Switzerland and its neighboring regions.

At Kunsthaus Glarus, Kunstschaffen Glarus remains unjuried to this day and follows an open procedure. The only requirements for participation are the contemporaneity of the artistic work, the alphabetical order based on the artist’s last name, and a connection to the Glarus region. From A to L — from Aebli to Lülü — this years’ artistic production of the canton is curated by Stefan Wagner and presented to an interested public in its many forms.

An extensive program of events will accompany the exhibition, featuring guided tours between artists, the team and members of the Glarner Kunstverein’s board. A new activity book for children will be available, as well as two workshops for children involving participating artists.

An Audience Award, donated by Schätti Leuchten, will be awarded at the end of the exhibition. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 5.30 pm.

Afternoon for children with Lisa Eikrann

How do we remember spaces? Join artist and scenographer Lisa Eikrann to explore this question. You'll draw, glue and design to create personal images and small spatial sketches that show how we experience places and how we recall them from a variety of perspectives.

Lisa Eikrann works as an artist and scenographer. After studying at the Academy of Performing Arts and the University of the Arts in Oslo, as well as at the Zurich University of the Arts, she moved to Glarus. In 2016, she received the Kunsthaus Glarus Fokus Prize for her installation Ich (I). In her work, she is concerned with the interaction of people and architecture. She works conceptually and employs an abstractionist approach to objects, painting and spatial installations, while relating them back to the experiences and the self of the viewer.

The workshop is part of the Kunstschaffen 2025 (A-L) exhibition at the Kunsthaus Glarus.

For children and young people aged 6 and above. Free admission. The event will be held in German.

Afternoon for children with Claudio Landolt

Join Claudio Landolt at the Kunsthaus for a search for sounding objects, which we will use to compose an experimental sound piece. We will improvise with sounds, explore soundscapes and record a multi-track piece, which we will then mix together and take home as a digital audio file.

Claudio Landolt (born in Glarus in 1984) is a radio journalist, musician and author. He studied cultural journalism and electroacoustic composition and is interested in the imaginary and narrative potential of field recordings.

The workshop is part of the Kunstschaffen 2025 (A-L) exhibition at the Kunsthaus Glarus.

For children and young people aged 6 and above. Free admission. The event will be held in German.

Advance registration by January 30, 2026 at info@kunsthausglarus.ch.
