The Marc Egger Collection has been on permanent loan to Kunsthaus Glarus since 1980. For the Collection Marc Egger exhibition, we are presenting a selection of works with associative links to the Hélène Fauquet and Flora Klein exhibitions on view at the same time.

Born in Mühlehorn at Walensee, Marc Egger’s life led him via the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, to further studies in Salzburg, to New York and then Spain. In addition to developing his own body of artistic work, he experienced first-hand the artistic developments of Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and Minimal Art in New York from the 1960s to the 1980s. The collection consists of around ninety works acquired and partly exchanged with artists during this period. It includes mainly small-format works on paper, including lithographs, drawings, prints, as well as several objects and oil paintings. The works are particularly interesting in that they unite mostly “peripheral works” or studio works by artists who are particularly well-known today.
