Neuzugänge der Sammlung des Glarner Kunstvereins 2011

In the two exhibition spaces in the basement, purchases of the Glarner Kunstverein as well as long-term loans are on display, which have been added to the collection during the past fifteen years. Works are presented that have a relationship to the theme of landscape, including some by Istvan Balogh, Olaf Breuning, Balthasar Burkhard, Erst Buss, David Chieppo, huber.huber, Daniel Robert Hunziker, Patrick Rohner, Daniel Roth, Balz Stäger, Johann Gottfried Steffan and Graeme Todd. The theme of landscape is seen in the exhibition as the motif of a genre that has an important place in the mountainous canton of Glarus, with its artistic tradition of landscape painting. The works purchased or entering the collection as long-term loans since 1995 show very different approaches to this genre, whether as documentary or staged photos, collages, abstract or representational paintings or sculptural objects.
