Nondeleted 2 - die nicht gelöschten Bilder

For years, amateurs and experimenters have worked with photography and moving images. After the Super-8 euphoria in the middle of the 1960's, the video enthusiasm of the 1970's followed. Now, a further development is underway: digitalization. Digitalization is generating an enormous amount of data. New forms of presentation and preservation are crystallizing – web albums, Internet movies, image databases, photo blogs. They demonstrate the search for an adequate way to cope with non-analog material. Only the deletion of data is really simple... We therefore ask the question: What is saved, what is filed in the sea of data, what constitutes our collective image memory? What are the nondeleted images?

The jury with Nadia Schneider, Kunsthaus Glarus, and Kaba Rössler, curator, will review the works submitted by 9 October 2005 and will compile a festival program for the contest. The videos and digital photographs will be presented in the Kunsthaus Glarus on Friday and Saturday, 28 and 29 October 2005.
